Niagara's first collective art showcase is approaching, and it's something that all Niagara Region residents should take notice of.

This April, In the Soil: Niagara's Homegrown Arts Festival will mark its inaugural year by providing exactly what it set out to - a stage for Niagara's artists.

Getting Dirty With The Soil

Calling all artists! Are you a singer, painter, violinist, dancer, filmmaker, comedian, hip–hop artist, DJ or thesbian? The time to apply to In the Soil: Niagara’s Homegrown Arts Festival is fast approaching. The deadline for performing artists is January 30, while the deadline for visual artists is on February 23.

Music festivals, visual art showcases, dramatic arts festivals - they all have their place. Sometimes they even combine a couple aspects to add appeal, but rarely are arts festivals so inclusive.

In the Soil celebrates homegrown artists

Lots of things grow in Niagara, including art. In the Soil will run April 17 to April 24, featuring Niagara’s homegrown artists and artwork.

“We want to celebrate the art in Niagara with the people who create it and are inspired by it as well,” said Joe Lapinski, co-founder of the festival.
