St. Catharines and Area Arts Council April 20/09 from 6-8 p.m. As Toronto's second-oldest professional dance company, Dancemakers continues to effectively engage audiences through their award-winning art form, unique artistic vision and ‘value-based engagement process’. Join Dancemakers' Artistic Director Michael Trent and Resident Dramaturge and Animateur Jacob Zimmer to learn how to create a meaningful connection between your art form and your audiences using your unique artistic values. FREE EVENT – LIMITED SEATING At the core of this award-winning Company's and Centre's re-envisioned philosophy is the desire to promote and facilitate new creation and professional and audience development activities that are rooted in contemporary aesthetics, cross-disciplinary dialogues and collaborative engagement. In 2002 Dancemakers moved to the new Dancemakers Centre for Creation in Toronto’s Distillery Historic District, giving the company a permanent physical roots in one of Toronto's newest and most dynamic cultural settings. The Centre offers dancers and other artists a rich working environment – a home devoted to the act of creation where different art forms collide and co-exist. The Dancemakers Centre for Creation is a place of encounters between artists and the public, a place that puts engagement with multiple communities at the heart of its mission.
