Orange Sun was shot in two fields in Vineland where thousands of sunflowers have had their lives sucked out of them throughout time. They bow to the ground as if they were weeping or as if they were praying to stay alive. This piece is filled with representation. The dead sunflower field represents the harsh and dying parts of our world we live in, the oranges represent the scent of familiarity, and the healthy sunflower field represents the utopia of a happy dreamland that we wish we lived in. The hydro towers represent dissatisfaction that kill happiness that we have in our lives. The moonchild represents hope and the trumpet player represents all of us that have lost our own identities through negativity. I have picked the music of “Moonchild” by King Crimson to back up the visual stimulation of this piece and to help with the dreamlike feel.
