Smalltown Pictures - "Pricks"

As though torn from today's headlines, 'Pricks' brings to life a contemporary urban legend that pushes the boundary of how far entertainment should venture in an attempt to satisfy an audience’s hunger. This 10-minute narrative short drama evokes both contempt and admiration for it's central characters. When the credits roll one is compelled to view the film again in an attempt to balance their emotional attachment to the transpired events. 'Pricks' questions one’s comfort barrier, has the potential to generate controversy and will at the very least, get under the skin of individuals who are unsure how they would react should they be placed in similar circumstances.

Bill Reilly returns to the director’s chair, and Steve Passmore makes his screenwriting debut as the pair co-produce the 2009 release “PRICKS”.  Reilly made his directorial debut in the 2005 short production “Simple Crimes”.  With “PRICKS” Reilly found a screenplay that captivated him. Reilly and Passmore’s shared vision for “PRICKS” was to create an environment that captured the sordid mood of the content, while bringing to life the actions a depraved character on the fringe of society.  St. Catharines resident Reilly has also co-produced four other productions in recent years, including his producing debut in the micro-budget, award winning feature “Streets of Wonderland”.   Trained as a screenwriter in Nevada, Passmore of Dunnville, has prior film experience with several Art Department credits.  “PRICKS” was produced under the moniker of “Smalltown Pictures” in association with the St. Catharines based production company “Backlot Rebels”.
