Bryson Waind

“Every strum and twang of Waind’s acoustic guitar hums along with his rootsy voice, and truthful, honest to goodness lyrics.” – Pulse Niagara

Nowadays, it's not easy to find a singer-songwriter who can keep an audience engaged in a performance without using any kind of tricks like effect pedals, loops or even unconventional instruments. This is where Bryson Waind excels. His gifted songwriting is meaningful, catchy and memorable. He doesn't consider his folk songs necessarily “stripped” as that insinuates that something is missing. Waind's songs have high acoustic value which he explains as “the honest sound of the instruments and getting [straight] to the emotional essence of music.”

Waind was born and raised in St. Catharines, where he still lives.  His love of the Niagara Region is expressed in many of his songs, with topics that include the famous daredevils of Niagara Falls, the great Canadian warrior Sir Isaac Brock, and the local wine industry.

Waind is no stranger to the local wine trade, particularly on the agricultural side.  He has worked with grapes since 1994 and has managed some significant vineyard projects in that time.  Years on tractors and in fields have furnished his songs with an honest Canadian folk feel, that can’t be pretended.

"I like writing songs about home and the comforts of home.  It's because I love being in this town.” – Bryson Waind quoted from the Brock Press.
