Inviting participants to pose for a blind contour drawing at her interactive exhibit. Each drawing will be done individually and privately but the drawings will be connected through medium and drawing surface.

Amber Lee Williams is a St. Catharines based practicing artist and Brock University Visual Arts student. She has been primarily working with encaustic paint for the past 7 years. However, last year she discovered the ‘Blind Contour’, a style of drawing where the artist solely observes the subject and never looks at the drawing surface until the work is completed. Amber found she was able to connect with the Blind Contour by embracing randomness, movement, and abstract representations of the figure. Throughout 2015 and 2016 Amber continues to develop her technique attending events and completing blind contours of friends, strangers, and Niagara musicians. This exhibit is an extension of Amber’s conceptual approach to Blind Contours; by never looking away from her subjects Amber draws only from life and never from memory. Through this method, she attempts to connect with the subject on a spiritual level and produce work that is not merely a physical representation but something more meaningful.
