One Night Stand: An Intermedia Arts Orgy

Department of Visual Arts Exhibition

Market Square

50 Church Street
St. Catharines, ON

April 12, 2010, 7 - 10 p.m.

One Night Stand: An Intermedia Arts Orgy, features the artwork of 16 Brock University Intermedia students: Justine Abraham, Sarjis Amin, Michelle Chan, Guillermo Chevez, Charlie Clowes, Ian Danahay, Mike DiRisio, Ariel Elliott, Li Ye, Victoria MacDonnell, Matt Michaud, Karlee Morse, Heiki Naelapea-Varik, Ben Sainsbury, Cory Sherman, and Dana Yandle.

The students have taken our local city of St. Catharines as the subject of their works, however each has commented on the city in their own way. Though some explore the day/night dichotomy that exists, where the calm streets become overwhelmed by a primarily bar-going crowd as soon as the day light fails, others have chosen a particular local establishment, which is of personal or societal significance. These themes are expressed through book works, installations, projections, graffiti and digital video, among others. It is in this way that the students can explore their current city with current techniques, in order to best express their conceptual concerns.

Please join us for this free community event: One Night Stand: An Intermedia Arts Orgy on April 12, 2010, from 7 - 10 p.m. held at Market Square, 50 Church St., in downtown St Catharines.
