The Three-Play Crop Rotation & The Living Archive

THE THREE-PLAY CROP ROTATION AND THE LIVING ARCHIVE ARE IN THE SOIL

In the Soil is set to take root in downtown St. Catharines next week and will feature a theatre showcase at the Sullivan Mahoney Courthouse Theatre from April 27 – May 1 and a site-specific project in a downtown storefront, The Living Archive, by acclaimed Toronto based company FIXT POINT.

Former Welland resident Katie Hood is set to premiere The Animal Show, a touching and quirky tale of an animal rescue worker.  Twelve Fold Theatre’s Richard Varty, a hard working Brock theatre student, has ambitiously written and directed an ensemble of emerging artists in Room for Improvement.  Professional locals, Stolen Theatre Collective has taken on The Nona in what promises to be a highly physical and musical show.

In the Soil is thrilled to have acclaimed Toronto based company FIXT POINT here with an extension of their Tale of a Town series. Their project, The Living Archive, is phase one of The Tale of a Town - St Catharines, a theatre project inspired by countless hours of oral histories gathered from local residents about the recent history of St. Paul Street.  FIXT POINT will open the doors to their storefront space at The Foss Building (104 St. Paul St.) throughout the festival to illuminate some of the stories they've collected so far from Mayor Brian McMullan, Walter Ostanek, Kurt Swinghammer, Marilyn I. Walker and more. Stories collected involve some of St. Catharines legendary sites: St. Catharines Standard, Art’s, Diana Sweets and Jerry’s Alley.

Deanna Jones, Suitcase in Point’s Artistic Director says, “We are thrilled to have FIXT POINT taking root at the festival and staying for the year to create a work inspired by our city. This will be one of the richest experiences produced by the festival to date.”

FIXT POINT will host the official ribbon cutting for The Living Archive at their storefront space on St. Paul St. on Friday 29 April at 2:30pm. Please join us to share your story and in the experience.

F**ked Up Just Announced!

F**KED UP - TORONTO'S CONCEPTUAL PUNK PIONEERS TO SHARE THE STAGE WITH LOCAL YOUTH TALENT AT ST. CATHARINES' IN THE SOIL FESTIVAL

VISIT THE EVENT SCHEDULE

St. Catharines - Polaris Music Prize winning punk rock band F**ked Up will headline a show with three emerging local bands on Friday 29 April at Robertson Hall (85 Church St.) @ 7pm in downtown St. Catharines.

From their start in 2001, this acclaimed Toronto band has been pushing musical and conceptual boundaries. F**ked Up has produced an impressive catalogue of music in their 10 year history, gained legions of Niagara followers and have proven themselves a startlingly talented punk rock band along the way.

The band's highly-anticipated punk-rock-musical, David Comes To Life is set for release on June 7. F**ked Up's third album is set to exceed all expectations. Though no less monumental, it is far more melodic than their critically acclaimed breakthrough, The Chemistry of Common Life.

Three local emerging bands have been selected to share the stage with acclaimed band - Tyganda, Check Lester, and Autumn Crush.  And these young bands, (two still in high school), are thrilled by the opportunity.  Dylan Murray of Autumn Crush says, "We are extremely excited to be able to share the stage with such a successful Canadian band. We look forward to a night of absolutely killer music!"

This year, In the Soil is proud to bring in a musical act that both inspires and ignites the local music community.

Tickets for the Robertson Hall event are $10 and can be purchased in advance at Strega Café and Out of the Past in downtown St. Catharines (cash only). Tickets are available at the door (subject to capacity). Doors open at 6:30pm.

This year, In the Soil, Niagara's perennial multi-disciplinary arts festival, will take root in downtown St. Catharines from April 27 to May 1 with 15 events, 75 acts and over 250 artists.
