Stolen Theatre, "The Nona"

Synopsis:  Jim and Laura moved into their first new home, everything seems great until they discover that there is a mysterious old lady who lives in a secret attic in their house and seems to have an unusually large appetite. Unexplainably, they decide to keep her. Little do they know what awaits them. The play is teeming with original music and Stolen Theatre’s staple style, borrowing from a variety of theatre traditions and techniques like realism, black theatre and musical theatre; rendering a highly visual, musical, dynamic and ultimately enjoyable production.

Bio: Stolen Theatre Collective was founded in November of 2007 by a quartet of artist-locals to St. Catharines: Danielle Wilson, Amy Teetzel and Fede Holten in the theatre field and Max Holten in the music field. They all are and have been involved in the artistic life of the city in different ways, as teachers, writers, directors, actors and musicians.

Stolen Theatre Collective is committed to the creation of original material or adaptation of published material that is accessible and relevant today. A longer than normal rehearsal process has become a staple of Stolen Theatre’s work, as they believe in the necessity of time to let things settle and mature in the right ways; so since the closing in 2009 of The Diaries of Adam and Eve, their last show, they have been working on their new piece opening at In The Soil Arts Festival in 2011, The Nona.
