Euchrid is Alex Ring. Composed and improvised explorations in sound, where a sine wave oscillator is as welcome as an acoustic guitar. Melody is welcome, but timbre comes first.

Alex Ring was born and raised in St. Catharines and continues to reside downtown. Classically-trained on violin from a young age, he has picked up other instruments along the way, primarily bass and guitar. His vast musical interests landed him roles playing fiddle in local bluegrass bands The Cuds and Highwire String Band and bass in noise rockers Frontwards. A minor in Music Technology at McGill University opened his mind to musique concrete and noise which has had a profound influence on his solo work. Mixing carefully composed acoustic guitar pieces, improvised studies on violin, and aggressive noise explorations, the common theme is sounds, interesting sounds. This solo performance will present composed and improvised instrumental music.

Alex Ring (composer/performer) was born and raised in St. Catharines and continues to live in the downtown area with his young family. A lifelong musician, he is an elementary school teacher with the District School Board of Niagara. In the Soil is the live debut of his Euchrid project.
