A heavy, groovy, 100% percussion-based samba band

Drums are a special instrument, primal and pure. They have a way of captivating all types of people. We are going to animate the space with rhythm to get people dancing, head-bobbing and any other way they like to enjoy a heavy, swinging groove. Samba, from Rio de Janeiro, is thriving in Toronto, but is almost absent from the rest of the country. We hope to spread the love a little bit by bringing it to the Niagara region.

Formed in 2016 by veteran members of the Toronto samba community, Blokoloko has already become a main feature at the famous Pedestrian Sundays in Kensington Market, as well as at other engagements at Harbourfront Centre, Dundas West Fest and the Blackout Anniversary Party.

Drummers: Ria Carter, Henry Chung, George Pico Druns, Mark Francis, Brian Hoppie, Adam Kafal, Will Lee, Leon Liberman, Jeff Luciani, Jaydee Matyas, Zack Medow, Andrea Mullan, Sandra Riml, Nate Robertson, Abby Rozen, Sterling Saldino.
