In 2010, Gillian was hit by an SUV while she was on the sidewalk. Let’s Try This Standing is a show about shitting on nurses, awkward interactions with bagel-eating massage therapists, and everything else that has happened since the accident.


Let’s Try This Standing premiered in January 2016 at the Neptune Scotiabank Studio Theatre in Halifax, N.S. Since then it has played at Halifax’s DramaFest, at Ship’s Company Theatre (Parrsboro N.S.), and as a one-night only showcase at Theatre Passe Murielle’s Backspace, all to sold-out crowds.

Previously, Keep Good (Theatre) Company has produced Mr. Marmalade (Noah Haidle), Understudy (Gillian Clark) and Constellations (Nick Payne). Up next is Gillian Clark’s The Adventures of Never Growing Up, currently in development with Outside the March and Tarragon Theatre. Let’s Try This Standing was listed in The Coast’s top 5 plays of 2016 and Local Xpress’s top 10 plays of 2016.


Anthony Black (Director) is a versatile artist who for 17 years has worked as a writer, director, actor, designer and as artistic co-director of Halifax’s internationally acclaimed 2b theatre company, which creates and tours original productions nationally and internationally. His work has toured extensively around the world to festivals including the Sydney Festival, Luminato, PuSH, Magnetic North, LitLive (Mumbai), Spoleto and Under the Radar.

Gillian Clark (Writer/Performer) is the co-artistic director of Keep Good (Theatre) Company. Her work has been shown across Canada, the U.K., and India. Her play, Let’s Try This Standing, premiered in January 2016 and has sold out everywhere it has toured. Gillian was the 2015/2016 emerging artist-in-residence with 2b theatre company and is part of Tarragon’s 2016/2017 playwrights unit.

Karen Gross (Producer) is a Halifax-based producer. She works with 2b theatre company, Keep Good (Theatre) Company and the Accidental Mechanics Group. She previously worked with Zuppa Theatre, Live Art Dance and the Magnetic North Theatre Festival. Karen is co-founder of the StART Festival, an interdisciplinary festival of art by emerging artists.

Daniel Oulton (Designer/Stage Manager) is a Toronto/Halifax-based designer and stage manager. Selected credits include: Projection and Sound Design for Messenger* (HomeFirst/EFT); Projection for Unconscious at the Sistine Chapel (2b); SM for Constellations (Keep Good); two tours of When it Rains (2b); The Belle of Amherst (Belle Collective). *Robert Merritt Award Nomination (Sound Design)
