Improvisational ambient music blending acoustic instruments with subtle electronics.
Grace-No-Grace creates each piece anew with every performance, relying on one another to maintain their perspective of their sonic architecture while simultaneously supporting, challenging, following, and confronting the in-the-moment musical thinking of the other. Every piece begins with a general outline, but each musician provides and receives improvisational cues to move the music in a different direction with every performance.
Grace~Grace formed in 2017 to create improvised explorations of musical texture, in which both traditional and extended performance practice blend and traverse the space between consonance and dissonance. Katherine and Graham have backgrounds in everything from traditional classical music to jazz and the avant-garde, and Grace~Grace is their first opportunity to explore this new territory together.
Katherine Fraser (violin and electronics) is a musician and educator from St. Catherine’s who now lives, teaches, and gigs in Toronto.
Graham Freeman (guitar and electronics) is a guitar player, writer, and occasional musicologist from Toronto.
