Niagara’s longest surviving indie rock group and still kicking it hard!

Formed circa 1991, Magna Cum Loud is Niagara’s longest surviving Indie Band (original slackers and old enough to be your father). The mic is manned and handled by Dr. Pee (Dinner is Ruined, Gord Downie and the Country of Miracles). Drums are slammed by Jay Peters (The Silverhearts). Original bass player John Hutchinson was replaced by new bass player John Hutchinson (Hutch) !?!. Mark Edgar Pries writes riffs and drives Jeep.

Hard edged influences gave early performances at the infamous St. Catharines punk club Jerry’s Alley and the Mindbomb an explosive post-punk punch. Their song “Radio Free” from Live at Bled Hall led off the original SCENE FESTIVAL CD in 1995.

Exploration albums Soft Rock Spinning, Burlescapades and Songs From The Short Bus resulted in the hits “Fourth Day” and “Carnival”. With their 7th CD “Eatin’ Chinese”, released in 2007, the band re-sharpened it’s razor’s edge with songs like “Budoir” and “When The Cougars Cum A-Huntin’”.

Now Joe Lapinski (Woodshed Orchestra) has mastered their new album “Bootless” which takes you through Postcards and Pixellations into Atoms and Waves.
