A multi-media performance dealing with the spectacle of being a queer person in a straight society.

This Performance is (NOT) for You is a spectacle of campy, colourful semi-eroticism. Using a combination of lighting, sound effects and performers; roles will be reversed and the audience themself will become the star of the show. On a deeper level this piece is meant to make the audience question their role as an onlooker, not only during the performance but in the world as a whole. Themes of sexuality and gender identity play heavily in this piece, inspired by all the strangers who shamelessly gawk when encountering queers on the street but look away when their gaze is met.

Phoibe Underhill is a multi-media artist who grew up in Niagara Ontario, joining the art scene in their teenage years. They’ve had pieces in local art shows over the years, including Celestial Butthurt and Tech Head at STRUTT Wearable Art Show (R.I.P.), and various untitled paintings in Small Feats. Their works are largely influenced by their identity as a trans, queer person and their experiences wading through the swamps of mental illness.

This piece will also feature several performers including
The enchanting Emma Lee Fleury
The wonderful Alexandra Li Tomulescu
The intriguing Rose McCormick
The exuberant Brendan Mckenzie
The charming Clay Underhill
