A twinkling, intimate candlelight performance of songs from queer east-coast artist Stewart Legere.
Stewart Legere is a writer, musician and actor from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He makes theatre performances (mostly) with The Accidental Mechanics Group and Zuppa Theatre Co. His show Let’s Not Beat Each Other To Death (created in collaboration with the National Arts Centre) has been presented at Stages (Halifax), OUTstages (Victoria), SummerWorks (Toronto), PuSh (Vancouver), FTA (Montreal), IMPACT (Kitchener), and will be traveling to the UK in May 2018. He is a vocalist with orchestral pop outfit The Heavy Blinkers, and in 2017 released his debut solo album, Quiet The Station. An avid and passionate collaborator, his work is fascinated with sexuality, vulnerability, intimacy, the destruction of persona, and the celebration of performance. He is currently an artist-in-residence at The Theatre Centre in Toronto.
“Tenderness like Iron & Wine, Poetry like Sufjan, Longing like Rufus, Sad like Amelia [Curran], Bright like Jenn [Grant].” – Daniel MacIvor (playwright)
“Quiet The Station’ is a magnificently haunting folk-pop fusion. Legere’s sound rivals that of genre elites Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver while maintaining his identity and originality.” – The East Mag
“Legere is one of Canada’s most distinctively original and inspired performers.” – Thom Fitzgerald (filmmaker)
